Caribbean Explosion

Caribbean Explosion By artists Frito Bastien and Jonas Dos Santos was painted on the Fairhill School located in the Fairhill neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This mural was painted from the artists’ memories of Haiti.

The picture was painted to reflect the multicultural students at the Middle School. More flowers and animals were included in the mural after the original design was finished because of a request from the children to make the school even more beautiful.

In 2002, additional walls on the inside of the school’s courtyard were painted to extend the murals. More children were added playing in the background, including children swimming, fishing, and climbing trees.

Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (painted out 2010-2015).
