CoreStates Art Park mural

This dance-themed mural sponsored by CoreStates Bank was painted by Dietrich Adonis and Jane Golden, Alvino Pearson and Miriam Johnson was located in the Francisville neighborhood of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The mural depicts dancers performing a variety of styles of dance, providing a strong sense of motion across the wall. Overlapping in their choreography, their bodies mix and mingle but never disappear as their brightly colored attire sets them apart. Their limbs break the picture plane at the top of the mural suggesting that they are larger then life and ready to leap into the real world. While just a practice viewers of this mural could see just how composed each dancer is, in their own individual moment a composition is created.
The mural was created in memory of Lena D. Bruce.
Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (date of removal unknown, but likely before 2007).
