Faux Fenestration
Faux Fenestration by artists Shannon Wolf Dimasi and Samantha Talkin was a mural painted on a former gas station historically certified as the oldest inner-city gas station in the nation. At the time the mural was created, the surrounding neighborhood was in a state of disrepair. At the request of neighbors, the artists added paintings of windows and doors to bring the building back to life. Fenestration means the arrangement, proportioning, and design of the windows and doors in a building. The windows are painted the style of Spanish architecture.
Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (entire building relocated to Sedgley Porter House in Fairmount Park’s Lemon Hill section in 2023).
