Nelson Playground

This series of five murals were created by Frito Bastien at the Nelson Playground located in the West Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Like most of Bastien’s murals, this one exemplifies his Haitian roots and style. Painted over five walls under a shelter at playground, this mural featured sweeping landscapes and rolling hills covered in trees, flowering bushes and other vegetation. The mural worked to provide a bit of natural beauty to its viewers making the greenery of the park seem to extend well beyond what is usually expected in a city.
Location Note: Murals no longer on view at this location (replaced with new murals in 2022).
