Patti Labelle: Timeless Journey

Patti Labelle: Timeless Journeyl by artist Sam Byrd was located in the Mantua neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Completed in 1992 as part of the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network, this was the first mural dedicated to Labelle in the city’s “Native Sons and Daughters” mural series. The singer-songwriter is the Godmother of Soul, a force of nature in the entertainment world, and a local hero.

The original mural of Labelle was restored in 1999. In 2004, the original mural was painted out and reenvisioned by a different artist at the same site.

Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (re-envisioned in 2004).
