Ed Bradley Tribute Mural Community Paint Day
Please join us to recreate a beloved mural tribute to legendary West Philadelphia journalist Ed Bradley, and celebrate what would have been his 85th birthday surrounded by neighbors and friends. Enjoy cake and other food and beverages as you paint.
Bradley was first honored with Ed Bradley: Curious, Relentless, Timeless in 2018, celebrating his 26 years as a correspondent on CBS News’ “60 Minutes.” After new construction obscured the original artwork, artist Ernel Martinez collaborated with the Ed Bradley Family Foundation to bring the mural back into view on a new wall at North 44th Street & Parrish Street.
Bradley, who passed away in 2006, was the first Black television correspondent to cover the White House and the recipient of dozens of prestigious journalism awards, including Emmys, Duponts, Peabodys, and both the George Polk and Paul White awards. He was injured in Cambodia as a war correspondent, and later anchored his own broadcast, “CBS Sunday Night News with Ed Bradley.”
