Mural Arts Philadelphia (MAP) and The Fabric Workshop and Museum (FWM) are pleased to host a special evening featuring quilts and murals created by Pennsylvania artist Jesse Krimes.

Beginning at FWM, guests will have a chance to explore Jesse Krimes’s Elegy Quilts exhibition, which brings together a body of work shaped by collaboration with individuals impacted by incarceration. Krimes transforms clothing and textiles into allegorical portraits of memory, identity, and lived experience. Drawing on these themes and methods, guests will be able to select from an assortment of patterned scraps to collage and press their own commemorative button.

The guided walking tour will follow to view a few Mural Arts’ Restorative Justice murals including Declaration, a mural shaped by Krimes’ curatorial work. Also, highlighted will be Krimes’ newest mural, Riverside, which is based on his quilt of the same name debuting in the FWM exhibition. Riverside amplifies the voices and visions of young artists looking beyond the impacts of incarceration toward their own promising futures.
