Judge Rosenberg’s Courtroom interior mural, Family Court Building, 1801 Vine Street

This was an interior mural produced in response to a request by Judge Edward B. Rosenberg for his courtroom in the Family Court Building, formerly located in the Logan Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a relatively small mural based on a Grant Wood painting, reminiscent of the scenic murals produced by the Works Progress Administration (WPA).

Murals painted by the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network (PAGN), a City agency and the precursor to the Mural Arts Program, were created with the goal of transforming graffiti writers’ talents into positive community arts initiatives. Read more about Mural Arts’ history here.

Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (building closed in 2014 but mural may have been removed before this date).
