Window murals in North Philadelphia, North Marshall and West Tioga Streets (1985)
This project was one of a number of small murals painted by the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network (PAGN) in North Philadelphia in partnership with the Department of Licenses and Inspections. Murals of window scenes (e.g. a cat, a flower box) were created on boarded up windows to combat blight throughout the neighborhood.
Murals painted by the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network (PAGN), a City agency and the precursor to the Mural Arts Program, were created with the goal of transforming graffiti writers’ talents into positive community arts initiatives. Read more about Mural Arts’ history here.
Location Note: Mural no longer on view at this location (date of removal unknown, but prior to 2007).
